Meet Helga

The names says it all .. or does it? Or maybe it scares you a bit? I’m Helga, Burpee Lover, Turtle Spirit Animal, Boston Native and Avid Traveler navigating the complexities of balancing a healthy, happy, and rewarding life in todays stressful culture.

I struggled for years trying to find that balance and it was evident in my body (I’ve ranged from sizes 2 all the way to 12), my energy, my mood, and my discontent with myself, my appearance, my life and my everything TBH. I felt like I was just going through the motions of life with no real purpose or internal happiness.

Through my struggles fitness became my therapy; time I could shut off everything and come out feeling mentally recharged. I drowned myself in it only to realize (after I hit a number on the scale I had been aiming for) fitness is just one piece of the puzzle of wellness and happiness. Until I found harmony among my mental, nutritional, social and physical counterparts I couldn’t feel or be the best version of myself.

In the last couple of years especially 2021 I underwent a journey of exponential growth and re-birth a sense of purpose and direction while gaining pure confidence, happiness, harmony and peace.

The essence of my work is to facilitate self-growth by helping identify the core challenges and setbacks in your life, so that you can overcome them with determination and take the tools from our sessions into all aspects of your daily life. With me by your side, you’ll have the strength and confidence not just us to survive, but to truly thrive!

All I ask that you bring is a bottle of water, a CAN DO attitude and openness to being challenged.

You cannot outwork a bad diet!

Making the change to live a healthier lifestyle does not happen overnight. I always suggest to my clients that we focus on one area first: consistent workouts or consistent clean eating before trying to do it all at once.

Here’s my approach to tracking your nutrient and making adjustments.

  • Track your current meals as normal with no changes for 1-2 weeks. This will give you an idea of how many calories you are eating today & slowly help you grow accustomed to tracking daily. Most actually may be shocked to see that they’re under eating. I like the MyFitness Pal app.
  • Calculate your daily calorie intake needs using a TDEE Calculator. (Google TEE calculator, tdeecalculator.net is pretty straight forward)
  • Make adjustments as needed to your daily calorie intake based on your maintenance number minus 100-300 calories for weight loss or add 100-200 calories for weight gain. Don’t go drastic cutting. You still need to eat a realistic number of calories to properly fuel your body.
  • Be patient with yourself, change takes time! And remember small changes over time will help make this a lifestyle change and not a chore.
  • Lastly, if you want cake eat the goddamn cake just don’t eat it everyday! All about MODERATION
